The year has been amazing. There’s no two ways about it, 2018 has been great for everyone here involved in Social Friday.

And to cap it all off, we had one last event that might just have been the highlight of the last 12 months and that’s saying something.

We’ve met diplomats, we’ve given gifts to prime ministers but getting in the festive spirit with some of the residents of a retirement home was a truly fantastic experience for everyone on the last Breon Social Friday activity on December 14. Games, crafts, decorations – we completely exhausted ourselves with positiveness!

And the Breon team, initiators of Social Friday, weren’t alone. Following them from the moment they entered their office at 8am was national German television channel ZDF, who have loved what Social Friday has been doing and wanted to include it on their Christmas news feature.

ZDF’s research team found about Social Friday and couldn’t wait to see how it works up close and everyone was delighted to have them along with for the day, not least because the team was a dab hand at Christmas card making and entertainment.

Throughout the day, it was spoken to the reporter about what Social Friday does, why and what are the plans to take Social Friday forwards. Lots of team members, collaborators and supporters braved discussing about their love of the initiative, including our founder, Fikret Zendeli.

He said: “What a year! And to have our work highlighted on a national German channel is just a further proof that this idea has enormous power for a positive change. We love what we do, we believe in what we do and all the energy that has been invested is worth it. I’m sure if you see us in action, you’ll understand exactly why we love being a part of Social Friday.

Next year I just want to see this movement grow and grow. Bringing about positive change in our mindset, communities and in our workplaces is the reason we exist and we’re so excited to see how this plays out over 2019”.
